What does Oklahoma Community Television do?
Oklahoma Community Television's (OCT) primary focus is to receive the signals of area TV stations and rebroadcast their signals which can be received within homes using standard roof-top and set-top antennas in Western Oklahoma. This type of broadcasting is also known as "over-the-air" television.
How does Oklahoma Community Television operate?
To provide its service, OCT owns, operates and maintains six towers located throughout Western Oklahoma, ranging in height from 200 to 400 feet .Each tower has an antenna designed to receive the signals broadcast from the Oklahoma City television stations. The signal is rebroadcast to surrounding communities on UHF channels-right to your home antenna.
Is Oklahoma Community Television FCC-licensed?
Yes. OCT has made a substantial investment in equipment and holds 38 licenses from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Why should I subscribe?
It is not mandatory if you receive our signal to pay us for our services but your contributions help us to maintain the systems. When storms attach our communities, and since we are over-the-air, OCT is a great backup to your cable and satellite systems.
How do I ensure that I continue to receive OCT broadcasts?
Oklahoma Community Television is committed to serving you, and we are committed to continue operation and maintenance of the radio frequency equipment, the towers and tower sites for our six Western Oklahoma locations. To ensure ongoing service, OCT relies on valuable viewers like you for operational support.
What does my annual OCT subscription pay for?
Your annual subscription of $89 works to help deliver critical, local and national information to families across Western Oklahoma, as well as national broadcast programming, and serves to keep Oklahomans connected and informed.
Will Oklahoma Community Television be converting to digital?
Yes, in 2010.
When and in what areas will the digital conversion take place?
Weatherford and Elk City will be converted to digital by January 2010, with the remaining communities converted by May 2010.
Will I still receive analog stations?
Yes. Once we convert a community, we will continue airing one analog station in that area to provide special updates.
Will I need a digital converter box?
Yes. Once your community is converted to digital, you will need a digital converter box or digital tuner to receive OCT stations.
Will I need new antennas?
No. If you currently receive OCT channels over the air, your current antennas should work and do not need to be replaced.
Who do I contact if I'm having problems receiving my signal?
